DraftKings Expands Poker Pool to Michigan After MGCB Nod
A three-state shared liquidity network now covers Michigan, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania players.

The Michigan Gaming Control Board approved DraftKings to merge its Michigan poker player pool with those of New Jersey and Pennsylvania as of July 2026, creating one of the largest regulated online poker networks in the United States.
Why It Matters
A three-state shared liquidity pool directly improves the experience for real-money poker players: larger player pools mean shorter wait times, fuller tables at higher stakes, and more consistent tournament fields. For DraftKings, the expansion strengthens its competitive position against PokerStars and WSOP.com, both of which operate multi-state networks. Michigan's inclusion is significant — the state has emerged as one of the top-grossing online gambling markets since launching regulated iGaming in January 2021. Poker players in all three states should expect meaningfully better game availability almost immediately, according to reporting by SBC Americas.
Context
Online poker liquidity sharing across state lines requires individual regulatory sign-off from each participating jurisdiction, making expansion a slow, state-by-state process. DraftKings had already received approval to pool New Jersey and Pennsylvania players before Michigan's MGCB granted this latest authorization. The interstate compact framework underpinning these agreements traces back to Nevada, New Jersey, and Delaware pioneering shared liquidity in 2015.
What's Next
The immediate milestone is player-facing: DraftKings must integrate Michigan accounts into the combined client and confirm traffic flows meet each state's compliance requirements. Additional state expansions — Connecticut and West Virginia are the most likely candidates given their active iGaming markets — would require separate regulatory approvals and represent the next logical growth step.
