Bybit Joins Kraken in Tokenized SpaceX IPO Access

Bybit has joined Kraken in offering users tokenized access to the anticipated SpaceX IPO through the xStocks platform, expanding retail exposure to private-market equities via blockchain rails.

Why It Matters

For crypto-native users, this marks a meaningful expansion of what on-chain finance can reach — not just stablecoins or synthetic indices, but pre-IPO equity in one of the most closely watched private companies on earth. Two major exchanges now supporting xStocks signals growing institutional confidence in tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) as a product category. Bybit's participation also broadens geographic access: users in jurisdictions excluded from traditional IPO allocation processes may gain a credible on-chain alternative. That said, tokenized equity products carry distinct risks — counterparty exposure, regulatory uncertainty, and liquidity constraints differ materially from holding shares through a licensed broker. Gambling with capital you cannot afford to lose applies here as much as anywhere.

Context

The xStocks framework is built on infrastructure Kraken obtained when its parent entity, Payward, acquired Backed Finance in late 2025, according to The Block. Backed Finance pioneered tokenized equities on public blockchains, wrapping traditional securities into on-chain instruments that can be traded without a conventional brokerage account. SpaceX has not yet completed a public listing as of June 2026, making tokenized access the only route most retail participants have to price exposure.

What's Next

The key milestone to watch is whether additional tier-one exchanges — Coinbase or Binance being the obvious candidates — adopt xStocks before a formal SpaceX IPO date is announced. Regulatory clarity from the SEC and equivalent bodies on tokenized equity classification will determine how aggressively platforms can market these products to U.S. and EU users.
